He’s here!

Henry Craig has arrived

October 7, 2010

7:11 am

8lbs. 6oz.

20 3/4 in.

We’ve been home a week now.  I was more nervous for this labor and delivery than I was with Katelyn.  I thought Katelyn’s birth was relatively easy and I was so nervous I’d have some sort of complication.  But it was so good.  Now with the next child I’m going to be nervous that it wont go as well as Henry’s.  :)  haha   My water broke at 3:00 in the morning and 4 hours later here he was.  I got scared there for a little bit though.  My contractions were really close together.  No more than 90 sec to 2 min. apart.  I thought my biggest fear was about to happen.  That the labor would happen too quickly and the anesthesiologist wouldn’t get there in time to give me an epidural.  Luckily he made it and it was smooth sailing from there on out.  Unlike Kate’s delivery where I had to push for an hour I only had to push 3 times before he was out.  Everything turned out great.  He’s healthy and I’m doing great.  The recovery has been really good.

There are so many things about having a newborn that are just the best….

-the way he smells is so yummy

-his cry

-his sneezing

-funny and scrunched faces he makes in his sleep are so cute

-when he cuddles into you

-because right now it’s for such a short time-when he’s awake

-and much more

We love having this new little man around.  He is so precious!

Didier Farm

Last Saturday we wanted to go apple picking like we do every year but we found out that the apples were slim pickins…so we decided to go to Didier Farm and pick pumpkins instead.  We’ve been here once before and thought it was really fun.  Kate had a fun time picking out a pumpkin for herself and for her little brother.  She  loved the horse ride and looking at all the farm animals.

It happened

I always wondered how long it would take us to make our first trip to the ER for an accident of some sort with Kate.  Well it happened.  I’m surprised it took almost 3 years.  We’ve been lucky with this little monkey.  Tuesday (9-28-10) Kate got her first stitches.  She had just got out of the tub and I wrapped her in her towel like I always do.  As she was walking away she tripped over her towel and fell right on her face.  Of course she started crying so I scooped her up really fast and was holding her.  When she calmed down and pulled away from me I  noticed blood on my shirt.  So I thought her mouth was bleeding so I look inside her mouth and it was bleeding a little bit but not much.  She had stopped crying so I thought all was okay.  5-7 minutes later we’re eating breakfast and Kate turns her head a little bit and I notice blood on her neck.  I was like where did that blood come from?  So I lift up her chin and there’s a big gash under her chin.  I knew she needed stitches but I first took her to per pediatrician to see if I was wrong.  The doctor said no she needs stitches.  So I drive her over to the ER to get her stitched up.  Katelyn was in great spirits.  The cut wasn’t even bothering her the slightest.  She was her normal Katelyn self.  We had to put this gel on the cut to numb it for 30 minutes.  When it was time to stitch her up they had to lay her on the board and strap her down.  She HATED this.  Kate hates to be forced down or confined and in this straight jacket torturing device for children was awful  She couldn’t move a muscle.  I got teary eyed seeing how upset she was and wondering why I wasn’t saving her when she was crying out for me to help her.  Finally it was over and she calmed down as soon as I could hold her.  She was very brave.  It was noon by the time we got out of there so I took her to McDonalds and got her a happy meal and chocolate milkshake.  That made her really happy.  That night Craig came home with some flowers for her and she was so excited they were just for her.  Her BF Jane also got her a get well gift…a little purse with a necklace and earrings and some candy.  She’s so sweet!

It’s a Boy

So I guess I never did do an official post that we are expecting.  So this baby boy is due in a week and we are super excited for a boy.  I wasn’t that excited for the boy at first.  Craig didn’t care either way but I would have loved to have Kate have a sister.  I thought with her fun personality sharing all her girlie fun stuff with a little sister would have been great.  And the timing was too perfect.  Kate’s a Dec. baby and this baby was and Oct. baby and so I wouldn’t have had to buy any new clothes.  All the seasons were the same.  It was perfect.  But we got a boy and after a little of time getting used to it I can’t imagine anything else and I’m so excited for him.  I have one of each and it’s awesome!!!  Coming up with a name has been a little tough though.  Hopefully we’ll come up with something in the next week.  :)  I can’t wait to meet the little guy!

So my greatest friends in the world were so sweet and threw me a baby shower.  It was so great.  Food, decor, and company was so great!  I love them so much!

First Day of School

Kate had her first day of school on September 7.  It was a big day and she was so excited to get there that morning.  We first went to breakfast at Walker Bros.  So yummy!  Then it was off to school.  It went well.  She had the biggest smile on her face as she came running out when she was done.  She couldn’t wait to go again.  It was also a big day because she gave up her binky that day.  It was hard for the first few days but she got better and it now is not an issue.  She’s my big girl now.  Sniff sniff

Camping

Craig took Katelyn camping for the first time this summer.  I was not invited (jk)  Craig really enjoyed this daddy daughter outing.  I needed to stay anyways cause I had some things I needed to be to that Saturday morning.  They had a lot of fun.

Bags are packed….she had to take her Dora suitcase

Nauvoo

So a couple weeks after we got back from our big long trip we were off again.  This time to Nauvoo and St. Louis.  Craig had a business trip he had to go to in St. Louis so we thought this would be a good chance for us to tag along and hit Nauvoo on our way.  Trip down was really good.  The drive wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.  Kate was really good and I didn’t get too uncomfortable (I was about 7 months at this point).  We literally pulled right into the edge of Nauvoo and this is when our car decides to break.  We needed a new water pump I guess.  Thank goodness for AAA.  They sent someone out to tow our car and fix it.  The only problem was it wasn’t going to be done until the next Tuesday (it was Sat.)  So we got a rental from the same place who was fixing our car and we drove that around for the weekend and all the way to St. Louis.  So the drive back on Tuesday was A LOT longer than we planned.  Instead of the 4 or 5 hours back to Chicago we had to back track back to Nauvoo to get the car and then back.  10 hrs. later we made it home.  It all worked out though and it was a really fun trip.  Collage Nauvoo

"I am going like a lamb to the slaughter; But I am calm as a summer's morning; I have a conscience void of offense towards God, and towards all men. I shall die innocent, and it shall yet be said of me — he was murdered in cold blood."

Joseph Smith uttered these prophetic words June 24, 1844, in the final moments of what would be his final horse ride from his beloved Nauvoo.

Idaho/Utah

On my list of things to do before this baby comes is get this dang blog updated.  It’s been a thorn in my side for months.  I wish I could be better at keeping it updated but the time just always gets away from me.  So here come a lot of blogs.  First is our trip this summer to Idaho/Utah.  We were there for 6 weeks.  I know.  A long time.  But funny thing, this trip seemed to go by faster than the the other trips when we’re only there for about 4 weeks.  We were busy and had lots of fun things to do.  Here are some pictures from the trip.

8- I said “hell” when we were playing 5 Crowns and so Kate made me sit in time out with my hood on. I guess she figured if she kept on getting in trouble for saying the “S” word (and no she didn’t get that from me or Craig cause we never say that word…seriously) that I should be in trouble too.

9- Kate kept making people play “Bus” or “Taxi” with her.

10-I think she was hungry…

11-So tired but wouldn’t go to sleep cause she knew she’d be missing out on all the Guitar Hero fun.
