Kate found my hair cutting bag in the closet and when Craig started to take it away and close the closet door she ran to this chair and sat right in it...just like all my clients. She sees a lot of people come in and out of our house for HC's and so she probably thought she was overdue for one and that it was finally her turn to sit and be pampered. So we humored her and her dad styled her hair. She LOVED it!

Shopping is dangerous

So Friday I got my very first black eye and there is no cool story or anything. Just me being an idiot who wasn't paying attention to where she was going. I was at Burlington Coat Factory and I had just gotten my shopping cart. I start walking down the isle and the cart felt very wobbly and like there was something stuck in the wheels. So I keep walking and lean over to the left to see if there is in fact something stuck in my wheels and there's not but while I was bent over looking my face collides with a metal clothes rack. OUCH!!! Oh wow it hurt! I run to the first mirror I can find and sure enough I see a little red spot in the corner of my eye. I'd popped a blood vessel. I said to my self "Great I just gave myself a black eye by running into a clothes rack." I was pretty embarrassed cause I'm pretty sure somebody saw it happen cause I wasn't exactly quiet when we hit. Luckily it's not as "black" as it could be but here are some photos so you can see. I know it doesn't look too bad but boy it's tender! :)

Katelyn and I were supposed to meet Craig down in the city for dinner and when he found out what happened he didn't think we should go anymore. He thought people would think he's a wife beater :) (he was totally kidding). I was a little embarrassed to go out but we did anyways and we went to the Rainforest Cafe. Katelyn thought it was really fun. We sat right by this huge fish tank and she loved staring those down. Every 20 min. they had a "thunder storm" where all the lights go on and off and the animals go crazy. It was funny. As for the food I would give it a C rating but totally fun environment.

4th of July Weekend

We had a fantastic 4th of July weekend. Craig was lucky to have Thursday and Friday off so we took full advantage of having him for a super long weekend. First we hit downtown with the Field Museum.

Then the beach on Friday. It was kind of chilly and cloudy but we kept warm digging big holes, making a big tower of sand, and burying Craig and Kate in the sand. Craig didn't put sunscreen on so he looks like a tomato. :)

and finally Saturday was a really busy day. I was able to go to a really neat baptism down at the lake in the morning. It was really special. I love watching our primary kids get baptized in the lake. After that we went to a friends to BBQ and watch the parade. It was fun. The only downer was that it was raining the entire time. After that we headed over to another friends for more partying. Then we headed for the lake to watch the fireworks. It was a long fun day!

It's beach season

We've hit the beach finally. What and awful start to summer. I thought it would never warm up. But it has and we couldn't be happier. Kate loves the beach and it's now the newest word we can add to her vocabulary.

Stay tuned for more of the beach. We'll be hitting it all summer!

Our Farewell Trip

Our main reason for our trip out to Idaho was because my little brother was leaving on his mission. He'll be serving in Chile and we're all so excited.
The MTC was kind of hard on all of us...

The rest of the trip was pretty laid back and we just hung out with family most of the time. Here are some other pics from the rest of our trip.
